Awesome news from Kenya: At the Laikipia qualifiers for the Kenyan National Chess Championship, my students William and Stephen took home gold and bronze in the U16 category.

Last year, fellow teacher Ambrose and I set the target of taking home a gold medal from the qualifiers and getting one of our students into the top 100 players in the country. Goal one out of two is achieved – William, Stephen and 9 other students are going to the national competition this weekend. These kids keep astonishing me – maybe next week they will already tick off goal number 2.
